It will be upwards of 3 months before your jaw has healed around the implant. Once it has you’ll have your third appointment. The third appointment is where a prosthetic tooth or multiple teeth can be placed onto the implant, or the dentures are locked into place.

The time it takes for your jaw to heal around the implant will vary for a number of reasons:

• Quality and quantity of the bone
• Whether the implant is being inserted into the upper or lower jaw
• The difficulty (or lack thereof) of the individual situation.
