Adults tend to be quite resistant to having orthodontics. This is partly because of the appearance and also the fact that most orthodontic offices are geared toward children. Nowadays, we offer a gentle straightening system that is kind to your mouth and doesn’t stand out like the more traditional, ugly metal braces and most of our orthodontics patients are over 30!
There are a few options when it comes to straighter teeth to correct your smile. You can choose between fixed or removable devices. Both help move the teeth by placing gentle pressure on your teeth causing them to slowly move in your jaw. Adult braces are different to children’s braces in that they often don’t need to be on for so long with some cases being as short as 6 months.
Invisible Braces are smaller, lighter and show no metal like old traditional braces. They come tooth coloured and are almost clear which is usually preferred by adults. Fixed to your teeth with brackets, elastic bands and an arch wire. Your Dentist will adjust your Invisible Braces every 4-8 weeks depending on the treatment you require.

These braces that are placed on the underside of your teeth (next to the tongue and roof of your mouth). Lingual Braces work in a similar way to Invisible Braces as teeth are straightened using a continuous gentle pressure to help them slowly move into the ideal position. Dr. Linc doesn’t recommend Lingual Braces often for many reasons, however he is happy to discuss your preferences with you during your consultation.
Although a little discomfort is usually expected during orthodontic treatment, Invisible Braces are more comfortable than they have ever been before. Our Dentists use the latest orthodontic techniques and materials have been developed to move teeth in a shorter period of time.
